Trying to launch Discourse

I would love a step-by-step thorough walkthrough of the Discourse set-up including the choice of service provider already done for me. I’m not a dev on Discourse but I do run through the standard DO install guide a few times a year.

I was able to stumble my way pretty far into your guide, but eventually I hit a dead end.

This is how far I got:

Configuration file at containers/app.yml updated successfully!

Updates successful. Rebuilding in 5 seconds.
Device "docker0" does not exist.
Cannot connect to the docker daemon - verify it is running and you have access

real    0m0.090s
user    0m0.020s
sys     0m0.008s
root@0g4387abb5cc:/var/discourse (master) $

I don’t really know what this means.

Getting Started guides

There is no docker daemon inside of a Janitor environment, and you shouldn’t need to follow the Digital Ocean guide. If you want to get into Discourse, do this:

@erlend_sh did it work?

Finally had a moment to test this. Worked fine, thanks!

I encourage you to post about this in #dev on Discourse meta. This kind of on-demand development environment could be really useful to us.

So cool, thanks a lot for testing it!

@notriddle care to do the honors and announce your outstanding work on the Discourse development image on meta’s #dev? :smile:
